January 5th… was emotional, exhilarating and beyond what the human heart is capable of feeling. The core fan base of Blue Man Group gathered to send off our guys in blue one last time after an impressive 27 year run on Chicago’s north side at the Briar Street Theatre. I’m still processing everything from last night, but here’s a small sampling of just how powerful last night was.
Every person you see in these pictures all have something in common. We were loners, renegades, creatives trying so desperately to find our purpose as we grew into adulthood. By some, we were outcasts, the ones picked on in school, the ones quite in the back of the class because of insecurity and low self esteem. But… Blue Man Group, unbeknownst to the company, was a catalyst for us misfits, and through their shows, online friends became family for life.
Every person here, including myself and my wife, have incredible stories of finding purpose in pain, and finding something that brings synergy to former feelings of uncertainty. Organically, we’ve grown, and the fan base has strengthened over the past 25 years. We’ve suffered immense loss together, and rejoiced on each others triumphs. It’s not necessarily the show that helped us find our place in the world, but really, each other. I met my wife Alexandra through the company. I even got to work for them for a few years. But collectively we are a life force of love, energy and positivity that the world so desperately needs.
In all that we do, shine the light of love and creativity on others, thus igniting the flame in their own hearts to become one step closer in the epiphany of strength in numbers.
We are and forever will be, the heart of a company that is ever changing and evolving in todays modern landscape. Let’s keep that light shining bright, so future generations can follow their bliss.
